The crew on board Draken is a team of 34 people, men and women from all over the world. A mix of ages, genders, nationalities, and backgrounds contributes to a great atmosphere on board.

There are two categories of crew onboard:

  • Professional Crew

  • Deckhand Crew

Recruiting Status

We continuously accept applications to join our professional crew. But please note that we will not start accepting until we have a plan for an upcoming expedition.

Process

  1. Application: You will find buttons for application forms below. Submit your application, and include relevant experience, certifications (if applicable), and your motivation for joining the Draken.

  2. Review: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to secure your spot.

  3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a brief interview to discuss their skills, availability, and suitability for the role.

  4. Selection: Successful applicants will be notified promptly and provided with onboarding details, including travel arrangements and training information.


Professional crew (paid positions)

The professional crew is about 7-8 people onboard Draken.

Requirements:

  • Able Seaman (minimum)

  • STCW Basic Safety

  • Medical Certificate (STCW)

  • Documented tall ship sailing experience

Professional crew application

Deckhand crew (volunteer positions)

Onboard Draken is about 20 deckhand crew at one time. The sailing season is divided into different sailing legs. The Deckhand crew is recruited to the different legs. You can volunteer on board for one or several sailing legs.
We prefer deckhands with previous tall ship sailing experience, but it is not required.

Requirements:

  • 18 years and older

  • Good physical and mental health
