Draken extends her stay in Oslo

Due to overwhelming public interest, the world’s largest Viking ship sailing in modern times is staying in Oslo a little longer.

Following an incredible response from visitors this summer, Draken Harald Hårfagre has decided to extend her stay in the Norwegian capital. Guided tours will now be available daily through 14 August, giving even more people the opportunity to step aboard the real working ship featured in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

Since arriving in Oslo, thousands of visitors have come aboard to experience the ship, meet members of Draken’s international crew and learn about the voyages, craftsmanship and history behind one of the world’s most remarkable wooden ships.

“We have been overwhelmed by the reception Draken has received in Oslo,” says Emanuel Persson, CEO of Viking Kings. “It has been fantastic to see so many families, history enthusiasts and film fans coming aboard. Extending our stay means even more people will have the opportunity to experience the ship before she continues her voyage.”

Visitors can explore the decks of Draken, hear the story of how the ship was built using traditional Norse craftsmanship, discover her expeditions across the North Atlantic and learn how a real working Viking ship became part of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

Guided tours are available daily at Sukkerbiten until 14 August. Draken is scheduled to depart Oslo on 16 August.
